We had a fantastic time over Columbus Day Weekend enjoy Yosemite Vally. I recently asked my students how many of them had visited Yosemite and only a small handful raised their hand. After going, I wonder why it took us so long to get there! It is truly amazing! Marc called it the most beautiful place he has ever been. We left Friday after school, and traveled most of the way on the winding roads in the dark. After a few issues with the ranger at 2 a.m. our first night, we enjoyed a peaceful time. We were amazed to wake up in the valley and see that we were surrounded by sheer rock faces. We went hiking, visited Mariposa sequoia grove, and did a little shopping in the village shops. We had perfect weather until Monday night. It started getting windy so we checked the weather. Heavy rain was to start Monday night or Tuesday morning, so we broke camp and decided to head back. Before leaving the valley, we stopped at glacier point. Unfortunately, the amazing view was shrouded in fog, but the ranger shared some interesting history with us and told us about the 75 mph winds coming our way. We were so happy we packed up camp! Although we drove back once again on the winding roads in the dark, we were happy to be back home. It’s only a 5 hour drive from SF. Come and check out the amazing beauty for yourself!

  • I am gearing up for the first (hopefully not the last) Iron Chef challenge with my friends this Sunday. Marc is judging along with 3 others, while three of us battle it out for the title of Iron Chef East Bay. We were going to have four chefs, but one backed out this week. I will find out my ingredients tomorrow at noon. Last night I actually had a dream about Iron Chef. It was really a nightmare! I forgot all my ingredients, so at 3:00 (the time I was supposed to be cooking), I had to run to the grocery store. When I returned, I had only a few minutes to cook, and I forgot most of my ingredients! It was a disaster. The odd part was that many people that I have not seen in years were there to judge. I woke up and was so happy that it was only a dream!
  • How often do you “brag” about your husband, wife, friend, or family member to another person? I started thinking about that yesterday for some reason. I started thinking about the fact that I “brag” about them to other people in hopes that the “bragging” somehow gets back to them. Why do we do that? Why don’t we just tell people how proud and blessed we are to have them in our lives? Sometimes my bragging is 2,000 miles away from the actual person but I magically think it will get back to them somehow. I feel flattered when I hear other people have talked about me positively to other people. It makes me feel loved and valued. However, how much more loved and valued would I (you) feel if it came right from the source? I need to grow in this area! I have trouble saying mushy gushy things sometimes but people need to hear it!
  • I have my first client!! My Goddaughter’s childcare center purchased 10 bibs, one art apron and ordered more bibs plus 3 more art aprons. They are delighted with my products and are drumming up more clients in the childcare centers in the area! Along with getting ready for school, I have been busily working on their orders, but it has been a lot of fun. I will post a picture of the art aprons soon!
  • Being the last week of summer, I have decided to do only my favorite things. Today I baked molasses cookies (my Grandma Greer’s amazing recipe), got a mani/pedi, then made homemade breadsticks (Sherilyn came over on Friday and we had fun crafting and creating. She created two canvases for her new house using some fabric flowers, paint, and buttons. I loved her idea, borrowed from Quite awhile ago, I ordered a pattern on Portobello Pixie I wasn’t too happy about being on another plane a week later, but thinking of what was on the other end made it all worth it. As I got off the plane and walked toward the baggage claim, I all-of-a-sudden noticed a rainbow of colors in front of me. As I came near, I realized they were calling my name! Four clowns greeted me at the exit along with my mom. As I searched their faces for some recognition as they took turns hugging me, I realized it wasn’t any of her friends finding themselves in a mid-life crisis. They were bona fide clowns.
