A lot has happened with Sergio since he popped on the scene back in May. 

This is a new image for Plansponsor.   Soojin didn't have an article yet, just said that it was to be a story about avoiding conflict.   I tried a few different ideas with thumb wrestling and such, but we ended up going with this one, which I preferred too.  Some sketches and details below.

I'm a basketball fan so I had a fun time working on this portrait of the Celtics' Paul Pierce for the Boston Globe.  Here's some background info on him from wikipedia: 

(born October 13, 1977 in Oakland, California), nicknamed The Truth,[1] is an American professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the NBA. He earned First Team All-America honors in his junior year at Kansas, and has been a starter every season since being selected by the Celtics with the 10th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. He is a 6-time All-Star and led Boston to an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2002 and the 2008championship. He was named the 2008NBA Finals MVP in his first trip to the NBA Finals.  On September 25, 2000, Pierce was stabbed 11 times in the face, neck, and back while at the Buzz Club, a late night dance club in Boston's theatre district.
