Red, white, and blue potatoes!

Potatoes - $3 per pound - You've never really had potatoes until you've had potatoes that have been freshly dug!  Currently available are Cranberry - pink on the outside and pink on the inside - a creamy mildly sweet potato that is great for baking or frying, Desiree is a pale pink skinned potato with a pale gold interior, flaky but still a bit creamy and tender, this is a greater baker and perfect in potato salads.  Huckleberry is a beautiful dark pink with a marbled pink and white interior a tad sweeter than Cranberry. Carola is a creamy buff potato with a beautiful gold interior.  All Blue is exactly what it sounds like - blue inside and out.  All Blue is creamy but not quite as sweet as the pink potatoes.  It is also the highest in phytonutrients.  Elba is the best ever potato for mashing - these large white potatoes mash up flaky and tender.  And don't forget to try some mashed with roasted garlic! Price is $2.50 per pound for 10 or more pounds. Sorry - Yukon Gold and Dark Red Norland are sold out.

Mixed Radishes - $1.50 per bag- Pink Beauty, a mild radish and two hotter types, Helios (yellow) and Plum Purple are back!  The fall crop is coming in beautifully thanks to the cooler weather.

Basil - $1 per bag - Sweet tender basil is perfect for sandwiches, salads, making pesto, or adding at the last minute to sauces and sautees.  Sold by special order only.

Yes - Carrots come in more colors than just orange!

Carrots - $2 per pound - Sweet orange Danvers and Chantenay carrots are ready now.  Check out the carrots with ginger glaze recipe on the recipe page.  White Satin carrots are also available.

Nature's Bounty

Apples - $2 per pound - These great apples are grown by my  neighbor in Richmond.  The orchard produces a wide variety of apples but I can't tell you the names because the trees aren't labeled!  These apples have not been sprayed or treated with any chemicals at all so you may notice blemishes - but the great taste is what provides the real beauty here!

Beets - $2 per pound - A beautiful and flavorful mix of Red Detroit, Golden Detroit, Albino, and Cylindra beets.   I used to think I hated beets until I tried these beauties!  Red Detroit is a classic round red beat, Cylindra is a fruity cylindrical shaped beet (surprise!), Golden Detroit is a mild deep gold beet, and Albino is a tender and candy sweet white sugar beet.  Try grilling the baby beets - simply place the beets on a skewer and grill over indirect heat - peel off the skin before eating. These beets are so good you can simply steam them and eat them warm or chilled but check out the Recipes page for other great ways to enjoy beets!

Leeks - $2 per bundle - Leeks are a mild relative of the onion (and asparagus!).  Look for the Creamy Potato Leek soup recipe on the Recipes page.  We also love leeks split in half lengthwise, brushed with olive oil and lightly salted and then either grilled or roasted.  Leeks can be used in any dish that calls for onions.  Sold by special order only.

Georgian Crystal Garlic

Garlic - $2 per Premium Sized Bulb - $1.50 per Large Sized Bulb - This is most definitely NOT the garlic you can buy in the grocery store!  This hard neck garlic packs incredible flavor into large easy to peel cloves.  Available in 6 varieties - Georgian Crystal, is the mildest garlic, suited to eating fresh in a salad dressing, dip, or simply mashed fresh into potatoes!  Stronger varieties include Polish Jenn, Northern White, German Extra-Hardy, and Gary's, a truly local variety - the seed came from my farm mentor Gary Gauger who has been growing this for years).  Gary's is the strongest variety and is well suited for cooking.  All varieties will hold through at least December if stored in a cool, dark, dry location.
